Commitment is everything
Holtz’s 1988 Notre Dame team went 12–0 with a victory in the Fiesta Bowl and was the consensus national champion. Holtz is the only college football coach to lead six different programs to bowl games and the only coach to guide four different programs to the final top 20 rankings.

If you don’t make a total commitment to whatever your doing, then you start looking to bail out the first time the boat starts leaking. Its tough enough getting that boat to shore with everyone rowing, let alone when the guy next to you stands up and starts putting a life jacket on. – Lou Holtz

Commitment is everything
Yoda is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise created by George Lucas, first appearing in the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back.

“Luke, use the force ”  comes the voice of Yoda.

Skywalker exclaims in frustration “I’m trying”

Yoda replies “There is no try, there is do or do not”.

This to me is what commitment is all about, either we do it or we don’t. if you do not accomplish what you set out to, you did not fail you just quit trying.

There are two keys to commitment;

  1.  A sound belief system in oneself and the principles that one lives by.
  2.  Faithful adherence to these beliefs and principals.
Take Responsibility

Individuals that win in life typically adhere to a basic set of beliefs and principles that drive their work ethic, attitude and moral compass. These same individuals never waiver in the promise made to themselves and take full responsibility for their situation. Typically they believe to waiver in their commitment is tantamount to no commitment at all. This is not to say that they will not make adjustments along the way as needed, the end result and living to their core belief system is what matters.

To win in life commitment becomes all important when success seem unattainable. Drawing on that inner belief system that can and will help you to find the inner determination to not give up. Remember there is no try …there is do or do not.

We are either committed to something or we are committed to nothing
